This is a great idea, except when you promise dinner, you need to provide dinner... even when it is ordering from the closest pizza place! My daughter came from Basketball Practice straight to the activity, but there was no food!
It is important to follow through with what you have promised and advertised. If only ten kids show up, you need to honor those 10 kids and do the activity. My son had dinner before he arrived, but I heard another kid skipped lunch in anticipation of dinner, and then had no dinner either. With the Middle School Group only meeting once a month, maybe you need to have kids register and pre-pay for some the activities. Then you would have a head count ahead of time. I thought you skipped the meeting on the 2nd because that was the night the Children’s Choir was performing. It would have made a lot more sense to have a really fun bash on the 2nd with it being a no school day then to have the conflict in place and end up cancelling last night with no notice. Thanks for working with the kids, but let’s figure out a better plan!
