“The requirements for a good guide are reliability and accurate knowledge. It matters very little to me what you think of me, even less where I rank in popular opinion. I don’t even rank myself. Comparisons in these matters are pointless. I’m not aware of anything that would disqualify me from being a good guide for you, but that doesn’t mean much. The Master makes that judgment.” -1 COR: 4.2.4 (the message)

I love these words of Paul because they are so powerful at pointing us in the right direction as leaders in the modern world of Christ. It is not our job as leaders to be judges or the all powerful keepers of knowledge. It is instead our job to be accurate and reliable and give an opinion on the word while at the same time asking questions. It is not my job to make you like me or for you to think I AM THE COOLEST PERSON on earth. It is simply my job to Love God, Love People. I need not worry about whether I’m doing “good” in the eye or ear of the follower, but instead be upright and know what the heck I’m talking about, and if I don’t know, not be afraid to say “I don’t know.”
Now this does not give me a license to say whatever I want, or lack compassion or be even more judgmental than I already am. Instead what this means for me is that those are things I need to work harder at while at the same time being tough in certain situations. I need to be a POSITIVE impact to those around me who look up to me as a leader and a good follower to those that I see as leaders in my life.
God thank you so much for putting me into a place where you trust me. Continue to teach me and mold me each and everyday. Give me the ability to be a positive impact and not negative in anyway to the people you have placed in my life. Forgive me for all I do that goes against you and bless the world I get to live in, in the days ahead. Amen.
