September is close and you know what that means! It means Big Wednesday! This month's Big Wednesday is September 7, 2011 and it starts at 7pm. This month we are playing Bigger or Better! It's a fun game where you exchange something small for something Bigger or Better. Since we are going off the church grounds we need your parents to fill out a release form. If you don't have one, that's ok! We have plenty for you to have! Please remember to bring it Wednesday.

Ways to make money for camp

Camp is rapidly approaching and we want you there. If you're stumpted on how you're going to come up with money to be able to go, here are some fundraising ideas:

- Sell candy bars (buy them for $0.50 and sell them for $1.00)

- Mow lawns

- Wash cars

- Have a yard sale

- Set up a lemonade or cookie stand

- Baby-sit

- Pet-sit

- Ask your neighbors or friends if they have any work that needs to be done

- Make and sell crafts, artwork, jewelry, cards, etc.

- Collect cans and bottles to recycle

- Have a bake-sale

- Save allowance and any other money you get

This Wednesday we'll have homework night again, but we will also be having pumpkin carving as a fundraiser for Shelter Care. You can bring a pumpkin, carve it and then we will take your carved masterpiece down to the 5th Street Market. For every pumpkin carved, Shelter Care gets five dollars! Whoa! That's you making a difference for homeless families in the area.

So bring a pumpkin or two to Middle School on Wednesday the 26th to make a difference. If you can't bring a pumpkin, we will have some available.

Come sell chairs at Autzen to help raise money for Middle School Group. All helpers get free admission into the game for standing room, but space is limited.

Middle School students can help pick up chairs after the game. If you are over 18, you can also help sell chairs 2 hours before the game.

For people helping pick up chairs afterward, we’ll meet at the fairgrounds an hour before kick-off. We’ll walk to the fair grounds and ride the bus for free to Autzen. After the game, we’ll pick up chairs and be back to the church about an hour after the game.

If you would like to help, please e-mail us by this Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m., so your name can be added to the gate list.

Do you wonder what Cory and the rest of the Cambodia team have been up to in Cambodia? They have been busy painting a church, visiting different orphanages and talking with people in the community. Here are some pictures of the team. Check it out.

Dear Sol Trek camper….

I am so excited that you have decided to go to übercamp with me this year!! It’s a brave thing to venture away from home, but you won’t regret it. We have an incredible group of students and leaders attending the trip this year. My hope for everyone on the trip is that they will grow closer to each other and closer to God! The next few forms you will look at include our travel itinerary, a list of things to bring, a camper contract, medical form, and parent authorization form. Please bring your camper contract/medical form along with your parent authorization form with you on the day we leave for Sol Trek on August 8th. If you have any questions about any of this material…..give me a call. See you on the 8th!!!

UBERCAMP IS FULL, however we do have a waiting list which can be added to by contacting TIM JOHNSON @ 541-686-9244 ext 140. You must speak with Tim to be on the waiting list!

We wanted to be able to get you all the information you received in the mail in duplicate form via PDF format on the website. SOLTREK Itinerary, Emergency Contact Numbers, CAMP CONTRACT, HEALTH FORMS, and all the general information can be downloaded by clicking here or just clicking any of this paragraph.

Also just for Quick access here is the list of packing needs:

*$75.00 minimum will be needed for the 10 meals on the road
-Please realize we will be paying sales tax in Washington and Idaho, we will also be at a theme park for an entire day….please plan on each student paying $12.00 for their lunch that day, extra money may be needed for any spending money or souvenirs. If you would like to paintball at camp please bring an additional $15 per day of paintball.
*sleeping bag and pillow in a stuff sack (please use a stuff sack, garbage bags don’t last)
*clothes, towels and toiletries for 8 days (no laundry facilities)
*warm clothes for night activities and some grubby clothes that you can get dirty in
*flashlight, bible, and sunscreen
*swimsuit (Appropriate please! Bring a dark T-shirt in case your swimsuit is deemed too revealing)
*you might want to bring a disposable camera, a white t-shirt (washed it if its new) for Tye dye, a water bottle and even some snacks and games for the long road trip
*If on medications: please pack enough for the entire week and maybe extra for just in case! All medications including aspirin, IB profin, allergy meds, vitamins, etc MUST be turned into the Camp Nurse at Registration!
*Camper contract/medical information form and Parent Authorization form
Please pack efficiently: 1 suitcase, 1 stuff sack/sleeping bag/pillow, and 1 carry on (no larger then a school backpack)
And please make sure you know what your sleeping bag looks like and you have a name in it. Every year someone claims the wrong one.

What not to pack:

Cell phones, I-pods, expensive cameras, laptops, portable DVD players, CD players, TVs. We do not want them to get broken or stolen! Plus there will be plenty of interesting people to get to know!

SOLTREK REGISTRATION BEGINS THIS SUNDAY!

Starting this Sunday, April 6th, you can begin to register for Soltrek 2008 : ubercamp, in the atrium. We will have a table set up manned or womanned with leaders to answer all your questions, hand out all the information and just in general register you for camp. If you would like to register online that is available also, just go to ubercamp.blogspot.com and fill out the form.(please only parents do this...we don't want any rogue campers). We Hope to make this the uberest Soltrek ever. So sign up NOW!
